Why read this?
The OECD describes agency as the capacity and willingness to influence life and society, developed through relationships as well as individual effort. Its account includes shared action with teachers, families and communities, and recognises that agency carries different meanings across cultures. This is a student framework, not an adult life prescription. For this course, use it to examine whose support makes your choices possible. Draw a practical boundary between what you can change, what needs cooperation and what requires institutional change. Include care responsibilities and material constraints when considering a future direction; ambition can coexist with interdependence.

- Write the author’s main claim in your own words.
- Identify what supports it and where its limits might be.
- Describe one way it changes—or does not change—your next decision.
Use the evidence section of your project to keep the note alongside your own observations.
